The wait is almost over for Denver's reality TV fanatics.
The next season of Love Is Blind will take place in the Mile High City, placing dozens of local singles on a fast track to matrimony via the hit Netflix dating show.
Broncos player Alex Singleton announced Denver as the location for season nine during season eight's reunion episode on Sunday, March 9, receiving the baton from Josh Metellus of the Minnesota Vikings: "I’m excited to pass the ball to the next season," Metellus said. "I hope you get the win you're looking for."
The announcement is a long time coming. Love Is Blind casted in Denver back in 2023 (the singles chosen to participate are still under wraps).
The show started filming around town in February 2024, with the production crew spotted at Denver establishments including Linger, Hello Darling, 14er Brewing Company, Monolith Brewing and Retrograde.
There's no set release date for season nine, but based on the rollout of previous seasons, it's expected to air in September or October of this year.
The show works like this: chosen romantic hopefuls date one another through a wall, only meeting face-to-face after they get engaged. The bizarre setup is meant to foster deep emotional connections outside of surface-level attraction. The pairs then have around a month to honeymoon, live together, and decide if they will say "I do" or "I don't" at the altar.
This is the first time the show has come to Colorado in its five years on air; the previous eight seasons of Love Is Blind have been set in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Seattle, Houston, Charlotte, D.C., and most recently, Minneapolis.
It's not the only reality dating show to film in Denver, however. The similarly-premised Married at First Sight held its seventeenth season in the Mile High City, running from October 2023 to April 2024. It didn't go well.
It was the all-time least successful season in the show's history, with none of the marriages lasting until the reunion episodes for the first time ever. The Denver season also saw the first instance of a contestant being left at the altar, as well as one of the show's shortest marriages when a couple divorced after thirteen days.
The abysmal results are emblematic of the city's notoriously troubled dating scene.
Let's hope Denver singles have better luck on Love Is Blind — or worse luck, for our viewing pleasure.
