“Long sappy post incoming,” warned Dave and Becky Allen, owners of the Littleton Cafe, a popular neighborhood spot at 1409 West Littleton Boulevard. “After 14 incredible years, we have decided to close the Littleton Café. We have loved being a part of such an amazing community such as Littleton. We would like to thank each and every one of our loyal customers for the years of support Thank you to all of our amazing employees, you have truly become part of our family. Special thanks to the Littleton Police Department and you all will be dearly missed. We are sad to step away, but very excited to start enjoying retirement!! We wish you all the best and take care!”
The sappy post has a happy ending, though: The Allens are now enjoying their retirement, and Momma’s Kitchen is slated to open in the space this month.
There’s no happy ending for Eggs Inc., which opened at 1750 Wewatta Street in January. Local restaurateur Troy Guard and former Colorado Avalanche player and NHL Hall of Famer Peter Forsberg backed this first U.S. location of a Swedish concept that debuted in Stockholm in 2019. But Eggs Inc. apparently wasn’t all it was cracked up to be, and has now closed.
One of the year’s big openings, Schoolyard Beer Garden, made our list of the ten best patios in Denver. (The sibling Arvada Beer Garden is slated to open Monday, July 7.)
And a new spot topped our roster of the ten best rooftop bars, literally: Halo is now the highest rooftop bar in town.
Keep reading for all the restaurant openings and closings this week.*
Lorenzo Nunez is hoping to reopen El Chingon soon.
