The best thing about Valentine's Day? If you're under twelve, it just might be making your own Valentines, a time-honored activity for kids that's guaranteed to break the dead-of-winter doldrums. But the thing of it is this: It's damn fun for adults, too -- those, anyway, who are wracked with daydreamy memories of golden doilies, heart cutouts and cupid stickers dancing in their heads. And when the grownups get into the act, there's no one more eager to DIY an afternoon away with glue stick in hand than a wannabe mom with a stunted art-life.

Here's your chance to express yourself, alongside your kids: The Children's Museum of Denver will host a Valentine PlayDate with Scribbles this afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at the downtown paper store Scribbles, 2368 15th Street (which we reviewed last summer in this Cat's Pajamas blog). All the de rigueur frou frou will be provided for a charge of $30 for each adult/child pair (plus $10 for each additional family member); the fee benefits the museum. Paste your heart out.

To reserve a space (pre-registration is required), call Tara Polgar at 303-561-0104 or email [email protected].
