It was just a week ago that former congressman and presidential/gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo and "Ask a Mexican" columnist Gustavo Arellano debated immigration in front of a packed house in Denver.

And the fun's not over yet.

In Westword this week, I publish excerpts of that discussion -- and you can watch the debate online at the link above.

The discussion will live on, though, because Arellano has invited Tancredo to take over his nationally syndicated column one week, as he did last year when Minuteman founder Jim Gilchrist was the guest columnist of Ask a Mexican -- on April Fool's Day.

But this is no joke. Start posting your questions for Tancredo's edition of Ask a Mexican below.

Keep Westword Free... Since we started Westword, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Denver, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
