Ever search for something weird not really expecting to find anything, only to score way more hits than you ever imagined? That's what happened when we visited the Internet Movie Database and checked to see if there were ever any movie or TV characters named "Colorado." Turns out there were lots, including some in prominent movies portrayed by notable stars, and others in bizarre projects that neither we nor most other people have ever seen. Check out our ten faves below, complete with posters, IMDB summaries and more. Number 10: Carlito's Way: Rise to Power (2005) IMDB synopsis: "In the 60's, the Puerto Rican Carlito Brigante, the Afro-American Earl and the Italian Rocco become best friends while in prison. When they are released, Rocco intermediates a heroin business with a family of the Italian Mafia leaded by Artie Badalato Sr. Carlito negotiates with the lord Leroy "Hollywood Nicky" Barnes the area where the trio could operate in his neighborhood and sooner the three friends become powerful. Later, Carlito dates and has an affair with the beautiful Leticia. When Earl decides to move to Barbados with his girlfriend and leave the heroin business, his stupid younger brother causes a situation with the Italian mobsters, and Carlito and Rocco have to resolve the mess to save their lives."

Character: "Colorado," played by Casper Martinez, whose other credits include an appearance on a 2007 episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent and a 2013 flick called Eenie Meenie Miney Moe.

Number 9: Yellow Sky (1948) IMDB synopsis: "A band of bank robbers on the run from a posse flee into the desert. Near death from lack of water they stumble into what appears to be a ghost town, only to discover an old prospector and his granddaughter living there. The robbers discover that the old man has been mining gold and set out to make a quick fortune by robbing the pair. Their plan runs foul when the gang leader, Stretch, falls for the granddaughter, which sets off a showdown between the entire gang."

Character: "Colorado," played by Chief Yowlachie, who appeared in film and television from the 1920s to the 1960s in parts often too small to receive on-screen credit (as was the case with Yellow Sky). Highlights include The Spirit of St. Louis and The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin.

Number 8: Hollywood Heights (2012-) IMDB synopsis: "Loren (Brittany Underwood) a smart, shy and independent high school senior who has ambitions of being a songwriter and secretly sends her song lyrics to her celebrity crush, rock superstar Eddie Duran (Cody Longo). Loren's wildest dreams come true when she not only wins a songwriting competition sponsored by Eddie, but strikes up a friendship with her idol. Eddie sees beyond Loren's potential as a songwriter and gives her a first break as a singer, and when the truth about his less-than-faithful girlfriend Chloe (Melissa Ordway) is revealed, Eddie and Loren's friendship blossoms."

Character: "Colorado," played by Billy Otto, a TV journeyman who's been on The Walking Dead, The Wire and lots of other prominent series. "Colorado" is a recurring character; Otto's played him in twenty episodes.

Number 7: Colorado Territory (1949) IMDB synopsis: "Outlaw Wes McQueen breaks out of jail and meets up with his gang who are planning a train robbery. He finds them holed up in an old dilapidated Mission, arguing and one of them has a woman with him, a former dance hall girl, Colorado Carson. Wes has decided that he wants to go straight. Having met Lulie Ann Winslow and her father Fred, his ideal would be to settle down with her and own his own ranch. Out of loyalty to an old-time partner however, he agrees to go ahead with the train robbery and realizes too late that he is not destined to fulfill his dreams. He and Colorado make a final desperate break when the robbery goes bad."

Character: "Colorado Carson," the love interest played by Virginia Mayo, who made oodles of movies throughout the 1930s and 1940s, and appeared on-screen as late as 1997. She was in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty -- the original, from 1947.

Character: "Juan Colorado," played by Antonio Aguilar, who has an incredible 125 credits over parts of five decades, mostly in Spanish-language films, although he did appear in the 1969 John Wayne picture The Undefeated.

Number 5: Lone Star (1952) IMDB synopsis: "Rip-roaring big star, big budget semi-historical story about cattle baron Devereaux Burke, who is enlisted by an aging Andrew Jackson to dissuade Sam Houston from establishing Texas as a republic. Burke must fight state senator Thomas Craden, in the process winning the heart of Craden's newspaper-editor girlfriend Martha Ronda."

Character: "Mangus Colorado," played by (no, we're not making this up) Chief Yowlachie. Maybe playing people named "Colorado" was one of his specialties.

Number 4: Masque (2012) IMDB synopsis: "Malicious prizefighter, henchman and gambler Colorado McBride's dark past is mirrored in his malevolently scarred face. Double-crossed and left for dead by his treacherous partner, Masters, he finds compassion in the arms of Grace, a widowed country woman, and in the art of a mysterious Mask Maker whose skills proffer a mythical journey of restitution."

Character: "Colorado McBride," the protagonist (!) of this short film. He was portrayed by Richard Losee, a former stuntman; he drove a Trans Am in Cannonball Run.

Number 3: Cowboys & Aliens (2011) IMDB synopsis: "The Old West.. where a lone cowboy leads an uprising against a terror from beyond our world. 1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It's a town that lives in fear. But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known. Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a...."

Character: "Nat Colorado," played by Adam Beach, best known for playing Ira Hayes in Clint Eastwood's Flags of Our Fathers -- a much more impressive movie than this one..

Number 2: El chapulín Colorado (1972) No IMDB synopsis listed, but there's something amusing under the "Goofs" heading: "The lighting of a character placed on a chroma key not coincide with the lighting of the stage. The blue halo around the character was noticeable."

Character: "El chapulín Colorado," as personified by Roberto Gómez Bolaños. We have no idea what it's about, other than the color red, appropriately enough, but we're still thrilled by a listing that says an El chapulín Colorado is planned for 2015 -- and it'll be in 3D!

Number 1: Rio Bravo (1959) IMDB synopsis: "A small-town sheriff in the American West enlists the help of a cripple, a drunk, and a young gunfighter in his efforts to hold in jail the brother of the local bad guy."

Character: "Colorado Ryan," played by Ricky Nelson, the 1950s teen idol and underrated rock-and-roller, in one of his handful of big-screen appearances. The movie's highly enjoyable, with a veteran director (Howard Hawks) getting the most out of John Wayne, Dean Martin and Ricky, too.
