Wednesday, July 13Hops & Pie, 3920 Tennyson Street, kicks off a new Wednesday-only happy hour today featuring all of its canned craft beers for $2. The special runs from 5 p.m. to close.

Beer Culture the Movie is back for its Denver premiere at the Wynkoop Brewing Company. The feature-length documentary explores "the growth of the American craft beer movement" by "telling the inspirational stories of unwavering motivation by some of Colorado's top brewers." Tickets are $6, but space is limited to 100 people. The brewery will tap a firkin of its small-batch triple and raffle off a growler and some movie shwag. The movie starts at 7:30 p.m.
Wazee Supper Club, 1600 15th Street, features Bristol Brewing tonight as part of its Meet the Brewers Night series. Stop in and sample beers from the Colorado Springs brewery from 6 to 8 p.m. and meet some brewer reps.

The Bull & Bush Pub and Brewery celebrates its fortieth anniversary in Glendale on August 5 with a big celebration, but it will kick off the partying today with 40 Kegs in 40 Days, a stunning parade of beers worthy of the milestone. Beginning with a keg of the pub's own Tank Town Brown, the Bull & Bush will tap a new keg every day through August 24 (a full list can be found the pub's website soon, but the Bruery's Cuir goes on tap on July 16). About half will be its own beers (including Bear Skin Rug, Yule Fuel, Funky Cougar and Liquid Brain), while the rest will be rare or specialty beers from other Colorado breweries (like Great Divide and Dry Dock) and a couple of out-of-state brewers or Belgian beer makers. Founded by twin brothers Dale and Dean Peterson in 1971 when the area around it was nothing but shrubs and vacant lots, the Bull & Bush is now run by Dale's sons, Erik and Dave Peterson, who added the brewpub designation to the bar in 1997.

Copper Kettle Brewing, 1338 South Valencia Street, fires up its Black Summer Night party by tapping two new black beers, Malty Black Lager and Black IPA. There will also be live music from (continuing the theme) the Black Dots and Lizzie Huffman from 7 to 9 p.m. A food truck will be stationed outside as well. The party runs from 5 to 10 p.m.
Avery Brewing will release the latest beer in its barrel-aged series at 5 p.m. today at its tap room and barrel-aging cellar. Meretrix, aged for two years in cabernet sauvignon barrels and with sour cherries, will only be available at the brewery. Since Avery's release parties get kind of crazy, the brewery has some new policies: staffers will serve beer to people waiting in line; tickets will be distributed to people waiting in line, with a maximum of four per person, so that late arrivals will know whether they will be able to get a bottle; bottles will be sold for cash only, and there will only be 1,320 bottles for sale.
Twisted Pine Brewing in Boulder celebrates its sixteenth birthday today with a party from 2 to 7 p.m. in its tasting room at 3201 Walnut Street. More than twenty beers will be available, including seasonal and aged varieties "and the exclusive release of Bough Breaker Barleywine; a strong and rich brew hopped to 120 IBUs with Amarillo hops," the brewery says. The grill will be going, and there will be live music all afternoon. Tickets, $25, are available at www.twistedpinebrewing.com or in the tap room.
Renegade Brewing, 925 West Ninth Avenue, will be offering half price pints from noon to 1 p.m. today as its hosts a Colorado Craft Beer Radio listening party. The brand-new brewery's Imperial Porter will be back on tap, along with many others, like Hookah Smoked Rye IPA. Renegade owners Brian and Khara O'Connell appeared on the weekly show on AM 760 last week and doing their part to promote it this week.

Star Bar, 2137 Larimer Street, hosts a beer cocktail party today similar to the one that went down earlier this summer at the Aspen Food & Wine Classic. Avery Brewing and Peak Spirits (with vodka and gin) will be in the house as ten of the state's top bartenders (like Kevin Burke of Colt & Gray, Ryan Conklin of Euclid Hall and Burton Daniel of BitterBar) mix Colorado beers with Colorado spirits to create beverages as colorful as they state they call home. Hops & Pie, 3920 Tennyson Street, will roll out four beers from Strange Brewing today beginning at 2 p.m. as part of the pizza joint's monthly Littlest Big Beer Fest. You can try Le Bruit du Diablo Farmhouse Ale; Cherry Kriek; Powerhouse Porter and Tainted Black Pale in single pours or in flights (not to mention Hops & Pie.P.A., the house beer that that Strange makes just for the eatery). Hops & Pie is also offering a chance to win tickets either to the Great American Beer Festival's September 30 session (which has sold out) or to the Pints for Prostates Denver Rare Beer Tasting that takes place earlier the same day at the Wynkoop Brewing Company. To enter, order a draft beer during happy hour (Tuesdays through Fridays from 3 to 6:30 p.m.) and put a ticket in the carboy. The drawing will be held September 20.
For the third year in a row, some crazy brewers from both Avery, Ska, Oskar Blues and Sierra Nevada will cycle the 500 or so miles from Boulder to Durango, stopping at some other breweries along the way; the Tour de BoulDurango takes five days. But this year, they want you to wish them luck by trying out Wheelsucker Wheat Ale -- what they call a SKAVERY collaboration beer -- at a party starting today at 2:30 p.m. in Avery's tap room, 5757 Arapahoe in Boulder. Three dollars from the sale of every pint will be donated to the Community Cycles, a local charity.

The Summer Brew Fest at Mile High Station, 2027 West Lower Colfax Avenue, will pour more than one hundred beers from at least forty breweries. In addition to live music from Bop Skizzum and the Flobots' Andy Guerrero, there will be food, a live auction and other vendors. General admission tickets are $30 in advance and $35 the day of; VIP tix, which allow you an extra hour of drinking before the masses arrive, cost $40 and $45. The fest, which benefits Swallow Hill Music Association, starts at 7 p.m. (or 6 for VIPers), and lasts until 10 p.m.
Join Fort Collins Brewery's Paul Nissen, an Iowa native who went to brewing school in Sunderland, England, as he introduces his latest beer, Imperial India Wheat Ale, which will be available today in bomber bottles in select markets. The beer is part of the brewery's Incredible Hop series and this is the third installment in the four-part "Know Your Brewer" Incredible Hop Series. The beer is a cross between a double-IPA and an American wheat. The free event takes place in the brewery's tap room from 3 to 7 p.m.
Vaunted California brewery Firestone Walker will -- most likely -- make its Colorado debut today at Freshcraft, 1530 Blake Street, by pouring Union Jack IPA, Solace Fusion Wheat, Double Jack Imperial IPA and Parabola Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout beginning at 7 p.m. Freshcraft will also have Firestone's DBA and Pale 31 in bottles. Reps from the brewery, which has planned to begin serving their beer in Colorado last month until a licensing glitch held them up, will be there to talk beer and raffle off gear.
