Bike culture rolls strong in Colorado, where every sort of cyclist thrives -- from leg-shaving, spandex-wearing road racers to evening pleasure cruisers. Whether reliving our childhoods or taking it a little bit too seriously, we seem to love everything on two wheels in these parts, so it follows that we also love everything to do with bikes, too. Regardless of how hard you choose to pedal, you'll find something of interest at the Handle Bar Moments Auction, a BikeDenver benefit featuring all kinds of Colorado professional bike racing memorabilia, Tour de France jerseys, posters and other gear.
The goods on the block come with a little history: Memorabilia that once lined the walls of the old Handlebar and Grill at Alameda Avenue and Downing Street, it was donated to BikeDenver by the Breckenridge Brewery, which took over the original bar. The sweet collection goes on the block tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Breckenridge Brewery; tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door and include one free drink. Or opt for the VIP tix, $40 to $50, and get two drinks, appetizers, access to special guests and a sneak peek at 5:30 p.m. Visit BikeDenver online or e-mail email@example.com for information and tickets.
