So Backcountry Outlet is switching over to Department of Goods in January. But today they opened the beta version of the new site. It's pretty awesome.

In addition to the usual online markdowns on clothing/skis/bikes/assorted crap you didn't know you desperately needed, they're giving away $200,000 worth of prizes on every order over $50. The prizes range from socks to skis, and apparently there are even a couple bikes up for grabs. Also, one in every ten orders is free. This is not a joke.

The catch is you need an invite code to get into the site, but they're not exactly withholding. You can find codes (they seem to be reusable, at least for now) on the backcountry twitter feed and on message boards, and, as of about an hour ago, they've got a code in the sidebar of their facebook page.

Deals aside, the new site looks great and navigates really easily. This, my friends, is how to launch your online store.
