This Weekend in Stoke: Top five ways to pedal, paddle and push into Summer

Might as well jump! Whitewater athletes at the Lyons Outdoor Games will be making the most of peak flow on the South Saint Vrain River as this year's epic mountain snowpack melts like crazy -- don't miss the Adam Barron Memorial South Saint Vrain Creek Race on Saturday at 10 a.m. and the Kayak Pro Freestyle finals on Sunday at noon -- but it's also the perfect opportunity to see some freestyle fireworks in the Lyons Dirt Jump Bike Park. The Yellow Design Bike Stunt Team will be putting on a show tonight at 6 p.m. in Sandstone Park (350 Broadway, in the heart of Lyons) and weekend events at the Bike Park include Pump Track races and Dirt Jump competitions starting on Sunday at noon.

Get outside! Weekend events at Outside Magazine's annual Outside in Aspen include guided hikes with naturalists from the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies, trail restoration projects with Outward Bound, and guided adventures in Rafting, Kayaking, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Hiking/Trail Running, Climbing, Fly Fishing, and Adventure Dog Workshops with local guides and outfitters. There will also be dozens of activities in the Adventure Base Camp and a handful of pro athletes on hand to sign autographs before Sunday's 3 p.m. panel discussion The Outer Limits: the Risks and Rewards of Extreme Adventure. Pedal power! Whether or not you're hardcore enough for Sunday's Denver Century Ride (62-mile metric century and 100-mile routes head West from the stadium and will take racers up Lookout Mountain and through Red Rocks Park), don't miss the (free) Rocky Mountain Bicycle Festival in the parking lot at Mile High at Invesco Field this weekend. There's a community fun ride on Saturday at 10 a.m. and the festival features family activities and dozens of vendors. I wish they all could be Colorado girls! It'll be sugar and spice and everything muddy on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Yeti Beti's Beti Bike Bash, a women-only mountain bike event at Bear Creek Lake Park in Lakewood, 15600 West Morrison Road. Registration for the races is between $30 and $50 depending on age and category, and there are events for everyone from first-time racers to pro riders. Put your best foot forward! On Sunday the Hometown Heroes Amateur Skateboard Tour comes to Commerce City Skatepark, 6505 E. 60th Street. Register at 2 p.m. for the 4 p.m. contest, which is part of the Zumiez Best Foot Forward Amateur Series, or just watch the show and hang out for a product toss which should include swag from event sponsors Tech Deck, Chipotle Mexican Grill, X Games 17, 303 Boards, and ten skate industry companies.
