Freeskiers Sean Pettit and Grete Eliassen won the 2011 Red Bull Cold Rush at Silverton Mountain on Friday, showcasing the best of one of Colorado's most extreme ski destinations (check out the video highlights after the jump). Silverton opened up 22,000 acres of new heli-serviced terrain this season, which helped convince the contest's promoters to bring the 5th annual Red Bull Cold Rush to the U.S. for the first time after previously hosting it at Canada's Red Mountain and Retallack Lodge. Competitors in the three day contest were judged for performance in Big Mountain, Slopestyle, and Cliffs. In the men's competition, Pettit beat out Sage Cattabriga-Alosa and Dane Tudor, thanks to a decisive win on the cliffs (check out Pettit's 360 off a 70-footer in the last of the highlight reels below). Grete Eliassen edged out Shelly Robertson and Michelle Parker to take the women's competition.
