The Denver FIVE dinner at the Village Cork, 1300 South Pearl Street, sold out over the weekend and there's no waiting list, but there are many other events on the culinary calendar this week, including a visit from a legendary barman tonight.

Monday, June 11:

The Bitter Bar, 835 Walnut Street in Boulder, is hosting "On the Town" at 8 p.m. tonight. Join award-winning mixologist and author Dale DeGroff for an evening of storytelling, cocktails and music from the Gypsy Swing Revue. Tickets are $40 online and $45 at the door; call 303-442-3050 for more information.

Tuesday, June 12:

The Taste of Elegance Food and Beer Competition takes place this evening from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Omni Interlocken Resort, 500 Interlocken Boulevard in Broomfield. Local chefs will create dishes inspired by the the gold and silver medal-winning beers from the Denver International Beer Fest. Cholon Modern Asian Bistro, 1555 Blake Street, will welcome celebrity chef Angelo Sosa for a special four-course dinner followed by a signing of Sosa's new book, Flavor Exposed, tonight. Check out the menu here and call 303-353-5223 to RSVP.

Wednesday, June 13:

Hump Day Cafe sets up at Civic Center Park, Broadway and Colfax Avenue, most Wednesdays until September 26. The smaller sibling to Civic Center Eats features food from a handful of mobile vendors from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Check the Facebook page for updates.Thursday, June 14:

The 19th Annual Colorado BBQ Challenge kicks off today in downtown Frisco. The three-day event features more than sixty barbecue teams competing for top honors as the best in Rockies. There will also be a tour of the Breckenridge Distillery tomorrow and a live demo with Jenna Johansen from Bravo's Around the World in 80 Plates on Saturday; go to the website for more details.

Friday, June 15:

Fleming's Steakhouse & Wine Bar, 191 Inverness Drive in Englewood, has teamed up with renowned wine artist Thomas Arvid to host a private dinner showcasing premium wines from Napa Valley. The pairing costs $98; call 303-768-0827 to reserve a seat.

Saturday, June 16:

The 1940s World War II Era Ball takes off at the Boulder Municipal Airport, 3327 Airport Road in Boulder, at 6 p.m. today, with food and drinks, live music, swing dancing and more. Admission is $30 in advance, $35 at the door. Check the website for more information.
