Denver chef Nick Shankland, whom we first met when he was helming the kitchen at Hideaway Kitchen + Bar in Genesee, now has his own mobile smokehouse, called Gypsy Bar-B-Que. Rather than raising money for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts by selling food, he's raising money so he can take his rig to Houston and serve free food to those in need. Shankland started a GoFundMe campaign over the weekend to drum up $5,000 to serve 1,000 pounds of barbecue at the end of the month in Houston and the surrounding areas affected by flooding. Chip in and then follow @GypsyBBQ to see how the chef's plan unfolds in Texas.

Here in town, there are plenty of other eateries doing their part to raise money for various hurricane relief organizations now through the end of September. Keep reading to see where you can get good food and drink for a good cause.
