Miller, who has been a Denver-based writer and editor for for over forty years, was inspired to write Behind the Lines by his grandfather, Milton M. Brown, who was a delegate to Herbert Hoover's WWI Commission for Relief in Belgium. The book, which is appropriately subtitled "WWI's little-known history of German occupation, Belgian resistance, and the band of Yanks who helped save millions from starvation," is part one of a three-part, self-published book series and covers the start of the war in August 1914 through December 1914.
