10 Things to Do for $10 in Denver This Weekend (Five Free!), February 12-14

It's going to be hard to top Super Bowl weekend, but there's no reason we can't try. These next couple days have a lot of dancing, a lot of beer and a lot of nerd stuff to make life a good time. Check out our calendar for a full line up of things to do. 

Valentine’s Day Love-In for Vision Zero at Denver City and County Building (11 a.m. Friday, free)
Get together with your community to show the mayor, the city council, and city's department heads that Denver residents want streets that are safe for all people. Walk, ride your bike or take the bus to the rally to support the pledge that no one in our city will die trying to get from place to place. Vision Zero is an international movement making it's way to Denver this year. 

One Year Anniversary at Ratio Beerworks (12 p.m. Friday-Sunday, free)
They make a hell of a beer, so they're having a hell of a weekend over at Ratio. Stop by on Friday, Saturday or Sunday for a varying rotation of comedy shows, live music, smoked meats, crepes and special beers. Try to stop by on Saturday when they tap a very special keg of Wild in the Streets, a wild saison fermented in oak barrels. Check out the schedule on the Ratio web site.

Loveland Fire and Ice Festival at Downtown Loveland (5 p.m. Friday, free)
On this love-filled weekend, stop by the Love town in Colorado for a winter festival of free fun. Snuggle up with your loved ones with a cup of cocoa, dance to live music and sneak a smooch under nightly firework displays. The custom car show, carriage rides and Loveland artisans will surely have something to make everyone in the family happy as well.

underAware: Unmentionables Costume Party and Show at Syntax Physic Opera (8 p.m. Friday, $10)
Put on your best pair of skivvies for this party benefiting Urban Peak, an organization that helps the homeless and youth who are at risk of being homeless. The goal is for attendees to donate unmentionables, which are often surprisingly difficult to get. Bring underwear, socks, bras and long johns to the party to ensure a fellow human won't go without them. There's also going to be a lot of dancing thanks to the Hang Rounders, The Milk Blossoms, Crush Craze and Church Fire. 

The Bowie LINK - A Valentine to our Hero at Pearl's (9 p.m. Friday, $5)
LINK might be a new pro-arts organization, but their party style is classic. Enjoy free face painting and a photo booth at this Spaceman-centric party. Local artists Christofer Lix has a new David Bowie performance piece to debut, local band Firstimers will play the covers and there will be DJ's to spin the hits as well. Support the life of the Thin White Duke and local arts tonight. 

Skyhigh Opening Reception at Black Book Gallery (6 p.m. Saturday, free)
Since our boys won the big trophy last week, sports are all the rage right now — and have even made their way into the art world. Each of Billy Kheel's projects in the exhibition have been hand cut, dyed and stitched together. The felt appliqué style is a sight to see, so check it out for yourself.

Beastival 3: St. Valentine's Eve Wicked Masquerade Costume Ball (of doom) at Mile High Comics MegaStore (6 p.m. Saturday, $5)
Conjure up the nerds and summon the cosplayers for a geeked out night of fun. There are going to be tables of filmmakers, podcasters, artists and more to talk fandom with. Check out the live native dancers, bands and costume contest/ball to strut your stuff.

My Bloody Violent-tine Film Festival at Bug Theater (5 p.m. Sunday, $5-7)
Check out some of the most lovely bloody, supernatural and spooky films and the award show to follow tonight. Local filmmakers have put in hard work to keep you spooked all night. Rub elbows with the stars and makers on the dance floor at the after party too. More info here.

The Church of Coen Presents: A Serious Man at Syntax Physics Opera (7 p.m. Sunday, free)
It's time to repent again and wash sins away at the Church of Coen. This month, we worship A Serious Man, one of the darker offerings from the Coen Brothers. Despite looking for all the meanings in life, it sometimes only gets worse. Musical accompaniment and discussion to follow.

Boulder Comedy Show at Bohemian Biergarten (7 p.m./ 9 p.m. Sunday, $5) 
Double up your Sunday dose of comedy. Bring the sensitive ones to the early show, and then get ready for the raunchy fun at the later show. Deacon Gray headlines both, with help from Bobby Crane, James Draper, and Kevin Klattman. End the weekend on a laugh note.
