Bellwether Night at the Tattered Cover Colfax Avenue (Monday) Every two years, the Bellwether Prize awards a $25,000 cash prize to the authors of literature that addresses social justice. The Tattered Cover will host two Bellwether Prize winners tonight: HIllary Jordon and Naomi Benaron. Jordan's When She Woke is a futuristic version of The Scarlet Letter, while Benaron's Running the Rift tells the story of a Rwandan boy pursuing distance running even though his country is in turmoil. The appearance of both writers should make for a thought-provoking night. Makers & Doers at Blue Sushi Sake Grill (Wednesday) Every month, Makers & Doers meets at a different location as a way for creative people to meet other creative people. Along with happy-hour drink specials (and you'll need your wallet, including ID, for those), Blue Sushi Sake Grill will provide an array of free sushi and appetizers so that you can eat while you greet.

National Coming Out Day at the Tivoli Turnhalle (Thursday) The Auraria campus will host this National Coming Out Day celebration, featuring performance artist Kate Bornstein and Colorado Representative Mark Ferrandino. Bornstein is the author of Hello, Cruel World: 101 Alternatives to Suicide for Teens, Freaks, and Other Outlaws and Kate Bornstein is a Queer and Pleasant Danger, and her intriguing performance art is sure to be something special. Ferrandino is one of the first openly gay legislators in Colorado, and he'll be on hand to speak as well.
