Mother's Day is coming next Sunday, and restaurants throughout town are cooking up plenty of opportunities to show your appreciation. We'll post a list of places that still have space later this week, for those in need of inspiration. In the meantime, here's a rundown of what's on the rest...

Mother's Day is coming next Sunday, and restaurants throughout town are cooking up plenty of opportunities to show your appreciation. We'll post a list of places that still have space later this week, for those in need of inspiration. In the meantime, here's a rundown of what's on the rest of the culinary menu this week: Monday, May 7:

The Kitchen, 1530 16th Street, invites Denver Beer Co. to join the restaurant's weekly Community Night meal. Dinner costs $35 and starts at 7 p.m. Call 303-623-3127 for details.

It's Magic Monday at Little Man Ice Cream, 2620 16th Street. Enjoy a magic show courtesy of Dan the Magician from 7:30 to 10 p.m. tonight.

Tuesday, May 8:

Don't miss the free weekly wine tasting at Cured, 1825 Pearl Street in Boulder, from 4 to 7 p.m. this evening.

Wednesday, May 9:

An all-chefs dinner tonight at Simms Steakhouse, 11911 West Sixth Avenue in Lakewood, will feature a collaborative menu from the chefs of Morton's The Steakhouse, Willie G's Seafood & Steak House, Simms Steakhouse, Chart House and Oceanaire. Dinner, which is paired with wine, costs $125; call 303-237-0465 to make a reservation.

Boulder Wine Merchant, 2690 Broadway Street in Boulder, is hosting a free in-store wine tasting from 5 to 7 p.m.; Ernesto Catena Winery GM Matias Fraga will be pouring its signature wines. Call 303-443-6761 for details.Thursday, May 10:

Every Thursday through summer, Little Man Ice Cream, 2620 16th Street, hosts a jazz night from 7 to 9 p.m.

Friday, May 11:

The Colorado Chocolate Festival gets under way at the Denver Merchandise Mart, 451 East 58th Avenue, today at 4 p.m. The two-day celebration of all things chocolate includes competitions, demonstrations, chocolate-and-beer pairings, and more than 75 vendors offering samples. Admission is $5; kids under twelve get in free. Tickets for sampling are $10 for a dozen or $20 for 25. For more information, call 303-347-8252.Saturday, May 12:

The Corner Office Restaurant + Martini Bar, 1401 Curtis Street, presents its Sexy Mama Disco Brunch in honor of Mother's Day. Beginning at 9 a.m., mothers of both children and pets are invited to enjoy free champagne, massages and childcare in addition to a disco-themed brunch menu. Call 303-825-6500 for more details.

Mother's Day Brunch at Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret, 1601 Arapahoe Street, with live entertainment from the 17th Avenue Allstars and food from Hands of Thyme Catering. The all-ages show takes place at 11 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. Visit the website for more information.
