Although it may be hard to tell by looking outside, spring has officially descended on Denver; if you need proof, just check out the lines at your favorite brunch spot this Sunday. But Easter isn't the focus of all the culinary action this weekend; here are eight other tasty options.

Friday, March 25

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today, the Steuben's Truck will hold a pop-up lunch to benefit School House Kitchen & Libations, which recently suffered a kitchen fire that forced the temporary closure of the restaurant. The pop-up will take place in the parking lot of Roadies Performance Inc. at 5675 Wadsworth Boulevard in Olde Town Arvada. Scott Spears, the owner of School House, has been paying his staff while his place has been closed, and all proceeds from the pop-up will go towards helping those employees. Steuben's will soon open an Arvada branch, and it's already showing that it plans to be a good neighbor. For more information, check out the truck's Facebook page.

Prost Brewing and The Post Brewing have teamed up to create Prost to Post Baltic Porter, and the two breweries are celebrating by throwing a special happy hour and release party. From 4 to 7 p.m. today at Prost, beer drinkers can enjoy pints of Prost to Post, live music, a stein-hoisting competition with prizes, fried chicken from the Post and more. For more information, visit postbrewing.com.

Guests are encouraged to get weird at MCA Denver's Black Sheep Fridays. From 6 to 8 p.m. most Fridays, the museum will be serving up beverages and "sophisticated nonsense," and today attendees can get apocalyptic during a Mad Max Purim-themed event. Dress for the fury road with Klezmer music and Hamantaschen. You can join in on the fun for $5; the weirdness changes every week, so check out mcadenver.org to see the full schedule of shenanigans.

Wines Off Wynkoop is holding a free wine tasting from 1 to 6 p.m. today, feauring Cinnabar Chardonnay 2013 from Monterey, California, as well as Andeluna Cellars Filosur Malbec 2013 from Mendoza, Argentina. The bottles will be available at a discounted price during the tasting; for more information contact the store at 303-571-1012.

At 6:30 p.m. today the Denver Museum of Nature and Science presents Crowdtasting: The Science of Beer and Food Pairings, when you can play guinea pig in a taste test led by Nicole Garneau, museum curator and taste expert, and her partners from the American Society of Brewing Chemists, the Brewer’s Association and Cicerone. By sampling several beer and food pairings and then offering your feedback, you can help unravel the science behind why we find certain pairings so satisfying. Be a part of the taste test for $43, which includes beer tastings, hors d’oeuvres and admission to Chocolate: The Exhibition. Get tickets and all the details here

From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck will be passing out cute treats including macarons, mini cakes, cookies, bow-shaped water bottles and more at Park Meadows Mall. For more information, head to parkmeadows.com

The Colfax Wicked Wander, an eight-block scavenger hunt and bar crawl celebrating the end of winter takes place today from 3 to 7 p.m. Sign up as an individual or in a team of four to compete for $1,500 in prizes; the fun starts with check-in at Southside Kitchen at 3 p.m., and will end at Goosetown Tavern at 7 p.m. to decide the winners. You can participate for $30 as a single or get a team of four together for $100; get your tickets and all the details here.
